Living Viking Museum

Traditional tools are used in the local workshops to build replica Viking longboats - which are used locally and elsewhere in Denmark (and also Sweden - there is some competition as to who are the true Vikings!) The waterfront is also the site of a modern museum housing Viking artifacts.

Water edge environment

Yes you can get a Viking icecream. You can also walk the waterfront edge which is built a little like a lake edge with its soft planting and trees. The tidal rise and fall is only about a metre - so that is easy to handle. But still interesting.

Viking Ship Museum
The Viking Ship heritage museum is built alongside the living museum. It's visible in the background. Many replicas have been built and sailed to study methods and styles of construction and performance of Viking and later vessels.
